How to Tie a Karate Belt?
For the beginners who have no idea how to tie a karate belt, they can tie a karate belt by following many ways but we will discuss the famous and easiest one, so the beginners can easily learn by following these steps:
Step 1: Balancing the belt
To distribute the weight of the belt evenly, karate belts are precisely crafted so the first thing you should take care of is to make a good balance of the belt. This is typically accomplished by ensuring that the belt hangs uniformly when hanging from its middle. Suspend your belt from a height so that two equal lengths emerge from the spot where you are holding it.
Your belt should be balanced in length and weight at this point. This represents the concept of shin gi Tai or harmonizing the technical, spiritual, and physical parts of one’s self. It also represents that Karate requires a balance of the body and mind and your hand in the center helps in maintaining the balance.
Step 2: Wrapping the belt
After balancing the belt, now you should know how to wrap it correctly. Begin by positioning the middle of the belt on or slightly below your navel. In this way, you’d be able to perfectly align the center of the belt with the center of the body.
Now, Cross the two sides of the belt behind your back to make an X, and after making contact behind the body, make another X in front of your body, by wrapping the belt’s two ends again.
Step: 3 Checking the Tag:
A tag is attached to the end of your belt so check it to align the belt correctly. After balancing the belt when you wrap it around your body, make sure to do it in a way that the tag should be placed on the right side. We hope that you are now understanding how to tie a karate belt, keep reading to know more.
Step 4: Tie the Knot
After following the above steps, we hope that you are now able to wrap a belt in a way that X has formed at the front. Now, you need to tie a knot and for this, tuck the right side of the belt, the tag side, under the belt and pull it tight and make sure there are no twists in the belt.
Construct a loop on the left side of the length of the belt while properly holding the belt and remove the kinks and curves if you have put them by mistake. Now, pull the other end of the loop down to the front and over the spot where the loop shuts towards the center of the belt. At this point, the belt’s tag end should be hanging over the loop, with the tag facing you.
Step 5: Inserting the Tag end
At this step, some people give up but you don’t have to because we are here to help. In order to insert the tag end inside the loop, pull the tag end firmly into the loop, then both free ends, until the knot is thoroughly tightened and allow both ends of the belt to hang freely but they must be equal in length.
