Measuring Cups and Spoons

Precision is vital while baking, so having a complete set of measuring cups and spoons on hand is essential. You’ll need dry and wet measuring cups to measure your ingredients accurately.

You’ll need these tools regularly, so keep them in a place that is simple to access.

A tablespoon, teaspoon, 1/2 teaspoon, and 1/4 teaspoon are typically included in measuring spoon sets, while a cup, 1/2 cup, 1/3 cup, and 1/4 cup generally are included in calculating cup sets. In addition to 1-cup liquid measuring cups, you should also keep 2-cup and 4-cup ones on hand.

Wooden Spoons

Even though one wooden spoon is sufficient, having a few on hand can occasionally be helpful because this item is handy. Due to their durability, wooden spoons are excellent for all types of stirring. They can be used with doughs of any thickness or weight. Just remember to wash them by hand when you’re through to prevent cracking.

Rubber Scraper/Spatula

We assume that you use your rubber spatula more frequently than you realize. This tool is excellent for getting the rest of the batter or dough out of a pan or jam out of every corner in the jar. They can be accommodating for combining wet and dry components. Remember that rubber scrapers won’t fare as well in extreme heat as silicone ones.

Metal/Spatula Turner

There is no tool better than a good old spatula when you need to transfer the oven cookies to a cooling rack or cut a slice of cake from a 9×13 pan. It can be advantageous to have one with a thin metal blade because it will be flexible enough to go under anything you’re moving without crushing the cookie dough.

Pastry Brush

You may not be aware of all the uses of this helpful tool. It can be used to “coat” milk on top of pie crust, to brush melted butter or egg wash onto the dough before pouring in cake batter, or to grease a pan before pouring in the cake batter. This tool is a must-have, especially if you often bake.

Whisk

A wire whisk can be used for numerous purposes beyond simply beating a few eggs. It’s one of the best methods for thoroughly combining dry components. In addition, it’s an excellent tool for stirring up homemade custard.

Rolling Pin

Although rolling pins are most useful for rolling out puff pastry, cookie dough, and pie crusts, there are other uses for this equipment in the kitchen. For instance, if you need to crush cookies, chips, or crackers for a recipe but don’t have a food processor, place them in a sealable bag and crush them with a rolling pin.

Rectangular Baking Pan

A standard baking pan (13x9x2) is an absolute must. Using them, you can make cakes, brownies, cookie bars, and many other sweet and savoury dishes. This is the baking pan you should stock your kitchen with if you can only own one.
